The
Workshop…
Each
January, April, July & October we anxiously
anticipate the arrival of the next wonderful issue
of The Wool Street Journal…now you have the
opportunity to meet & attend a primitive rug hooking
workshop with Bonnie Smith & Tina Ackermann. What a
treat to have them here in the Midwest, all the way
from Colorado Springs, Colorado. You will have two
choices for the workshop project, either a geometric
pattern or a paisley design; both with lamb’s
tongues added to the sides. The photos are examples
of what you can create, but Bonnie & Tina have
designed it so that no two projects will look alike.
They will teach techniques, color planning & how to
add lamb’s tongues (commonly seen on penny rugs) to
your hooked piece. This wide cut workshop will
require basic rug hooking & needle work skills.
While you’re learning, hooking, meeting new friends
& just having a wonderful day; they will share some
of her experiences & talk about what’s in store for
upcoming issues too, so don’t miss out on the FUN!
And don’t forget…The Wool Street Journal will have a
vendor booth at the From Our Hands Show, just down
the hall from the workshop. Across the street from
the show & workshop is Easton Town Center filled
with dining, lodging & even more shopping so…
The
Teachers…
is
editor & publisher of The Wool Street Journal, a
primitive rug hooking magazine that is published
quarterly & has been in circulation since spring of
2002. Many of Bonnie’s original art, designs &
hooked projects can be found in the pages of this
publication. She has been sharing her love of design
& color in one form or another all her life. Bonnie
began hooking 15 years ago. Her love for rug hooking
is evident as she maintains a constant devotion to
create fresh ideas & inspire those around her to try
their own hand in the same way.
is
Bonnie’s daughter. Learning from her Mom, Tina has
been hooking almost as long. She began publishing
The Wool Street Journal along with her mother in
spring of 2002. Tina now lives in Kirkwood, MO near
St. Louis where she operates a busy rug hooking shop
called G. Woolikers. Her intuitive perception when
color planning a hooked rug & a natural tendency to
over dye stunning colors in wool, fills her days
with what she loves! She always finds time to hook
and to share all she has learned with others. Her
love of color & rug hooking is infectious!
